Hi I'm Warren and I am the founder of Activ8 Wellbeing. I have a life long love of sport, especially football and cricket and i love to follow Leicester City and the England cricket team.
Following a change in career after spending 18 years working in engineering. Engineering was never my passion, whereas sport and helping others always was.
In 2018, I decided to give up my full-time engineering job to re-train and follow my passion for sport, and become a qualified sports coach. I was keen to encourage others to create a lifelong love of sport, improve their wellbeing, and generally lead healthier lifestyles. I have lots of experience in playing different sport. I played football from 6 years to 18 years, and cricket from 8 years to 27 years. I have also played badminton, table tennis, basketball and I also have a passion for running.
My first coaching role was with Leicester City Football Club, where I worked as a Community Coach with both children & adults. I gained vital experience working within this role. Working from the King Power stadium, I delivered football sessions both within the city & county. I worked on both holiday football camps and various community projects including the Ramadan Football League and Premier League Kicks Programme.
I also spent time working on an inclusive football programme for children & young people with disabilities & additional needs. Following on from gaining a vast amount of experience with LCFC, towards the end of 2019 I decided to set up my own sports and wellbeing business - Activ8 Wellbeing.
I enrolled on some further training courses in order to further increase my knowledge around mental illness & sport, to ensure I was providing a service that corresponded with my business ethos and beliefs.
Having been someone who has experienced mental health problems myself (anxiety) for many years, I wanted to pass on my knowledge and experience to try and help others who are also struggling.
My aim is to help others to achieve a more positive mindset through playing sport, increase their understanding of their difficulties, and educate them around the importance of the impact of physical exercise on mental health & wellbeing.
I feel it is important to share my own experiences & difficulties with others and how I manage these on a daily/weekly basis. I am not a healthcare professional, but I do have some relevant qualifications on this subject, as well as my many years of my own experiences within this field. Since setting up Activ8 Wellbeing I have been delivering PE lessons within local Primary Schools, as well as breakfast and after school sports clubs.
I have also been running football holiday camps, as well as 1:1 football coaching for children & adults.
Activ8 Wellbeing have recently teamed CEL Sport LTD to hopefully work on many sports and wellbeing projects throughout the Leicestershire area soon.
Hi i'm Scott, my company CEL Sports LTD are working in partnership with Warren at Activ8 Wellbeing.
I started coaching at 18 years old at Willowbrook Primary school as their cricket coach. Since then I've gone on to gain my FA level 1 in coaching football and I now have experience of coaching multiple teams at the Caterpillar juniors football club, which I have done for the last 8 years.
I have coached multiple age groups throughout my coaching career with the club and I have also run girls teams at many different age groups.
I am also Junior Manager and Coach at Barkby United cricket club, which I have done for the last 4 seasons. Building their junior section up from 22 members to a now over 50 active members.
Last season we started the clubs first woman's team, and recently I achieved my ECB level 2 coaching badge & became a qualified boxercise instructor also.
I enjoy working with Warren and building Activ8 Wellbeing & CEL Sports LTD and I look forward to many future projects together throughout Leicestershire.
Hi, I'm Linda. I started coaching football and other sports when I was 17. I worked for a local coaching company attending primary/secondary schools and colleges in Leicestershire delivering multi sports sessions. In the schools I was delivering fun morning, lunchtime and afterschool clubs.
When I turned 18 I did my FA level 2 in coaching football badge and started to coach at local football clubs in the area. I then was chosen to play football for Coventry City ladies FC which I did for for 7 years enjoying every minute of it, playing in the top tier of the women's game was a real experience.
Moving forward I went on to complete the FA Level 3 (UEFA B) badge in coaching football, and at the time I was part of a very small number of women who had achieved this coaching qualification in the UK.
I then moved from Coventry City and played for Leicester City Ladies FC which again was a great experience for me, playing for the team I support meant a lot to me.
In 2009 I went across to America to play professionally and coach soccer for 12 months which enabled me to gain lots more valuable experience with my coaching and improving my all round football game. On my return I was back playing for Leicester City ladies.
I have since retired from the game and I now focus on my full time job which is working in prison delivering sport to the inmates which is challenging and definitely keeps me on my toes.
In my spare time I coach football for Oadby owls juniors, which is where my son plays. I also like following Leicester City and attending their games and volunteering at Activ8 Wellbeing, helping Warren out at the sports camps throughout the year.
